Check out all these Birmingham based Esty Shops!

The other day while I was driving through the neighborhood by all my favorite local community shops and restaurants, I took notice of all the wonderful and unique boutiques. I realized how important it is to support the dreams and aspirations of the people in our community. In that moment, I decided it would be wonderful to look through all the local Birmingham shops on Etsy and form a little group to showcase the unique and individual talents. I think it is important to find a common thread and to help support each other and our community. We have so many wonderful shops and talented people. Even if the weather outside your house suggest an unpleasant shopping experience, you can always have a pleasant day shopping and browsing on Etsy. I invite you to take a few moments to check out the shops I found. Maybe it will inspire you to do the same or you can just simply pass along the names of the shops that you like best!

Just click on the picture to open up the link to each shop. Like what you see, be sure to stop by and tell them that you found them here on our blog! Psst, so please pass it along!!!

Grace & Love,
Natalie

Meet my newest Earthangel Amishi, Hindu for Pure

Meet my newest Earthangel, Amishi, from my series of Earthangels Around the World.
She is a Hindu bride and she represents the innocent pure love of the feminine power.
I tried to capture the precious moment of a sweet bride comtemplating her special wedding
day.
It is a mixed media painting. I used tile grout for the frame and Hindu symbols cut-out and glued to a 30 by 40 canvas.

Some New Art

Playing with paint and recycling old thrift store frames. This was an old beat up wooden frame that I brought back to life. My husband says this angel she looks more like Medusa but I was going for an angel that evokes the mystical energy of deep communion. I went an entirely different direction than I thought I was going. At first she was going to have straight black hair but for some reason I decided to paint her hair blue. Then when I put the first layer of her skin tone my daughter said she liked the white layer, so I decided to go for it and just add blue tones. It is fun to think outside the box. I think the blue color projects a mystical quality.

Meet My Newest Angel, Isabella

Meet My newest angel, Isabella, which is Spanish for "Devoted to God". She represents the Angel of passion and compassion (passion representing the energy of movement and compassion representing the energy of feeling.) In life we need to have something we want to share with the world or something we want to be apart. So we use passion to give us the movement we need to get going and we use compassion to give us the feeling we need to connect with others. The balance between these two energies create the right atmostphere to make things happen. The Spanish dancer's red dress is full of movement and passion yet her soft, sweet face gives you the feeling of compassion. I hope you enjoy her as much as I enjoyed painting her.
(Notice how she changed as I began painting her. She became much softer as I went along. Spirit is definitely in charge,)
