See My Painting In Progress (Not Finished)

I am thrilled to be working on another addition to my "Women in Hats" series. There is more to do but I got the foundation down. I kind of like the way she is appearing. I was going to have her in a "American flag" motif shirt but after I did the foundation I started liking the neutral look. The frame doesn't show up well because I took had to take the picture in doors... it is raining today, but it is a great find that my mom got at the thrift store. It looks like snake skin or a straw hat. I thought it was perfect for a cowgirl. What do you think?
I am thrilled to have finally be able to paint again. I LOVE painting!!!
What is your passion? Please share!!

Meet Fiona, My Irish Earthangel
Here is my newest Earthangel from my series of Earthangels From Cultures Around the World.
She gently reminds us that we carry our past into our present as we set our eyes on the future. We are apart of our ancestors and they are apart of us. They are our past and we are their future. Quantum physics tells us that time is not lineal but rather 'all time' is happening Now. So our past is with us now and so we can change our past as we change our perceptions of the past. Our future has many possibilities as we make our choices in each now moment which includes the past. If you want a brighter present or more possibilities in the future you have to reflect on your past so you can make changes of your perceptions of the past. All time is happening right now, your past, present and future possibilities. I think we can create more balance in our life when we can open up and embrace change as we expand and grow, while remembering that our past is still alive within us.
Fiona was created out of mixed media: collage newspaper, acrylic paint, and her frame is made out of tile grout and acrylic paint, I also put real Irish coins (which are no longer used) and rocks that resembles Calamara marble. I hope you enjoy seeing the process of the birthing of Fiona. If you are interested in purchasing a greeting card of Fiona you can go to our etsty shop. http://www.artdelamour.etsy.com/

Meet My Newest Earthangels , Abeni and Adesina, from Africa
I have been wanting to paint these sweet angels for a very long time but first I had to be ready for the energy to come in. These angels represent spirit's gentle calling that is reminding us that the time has come for us to awaken. We are ONE! We can no longer stay in the "black and white" mentality of duality and expect to survive. We must remember that whatever affects our neighbors affects us. Africa is the symbol for the Earth's lungs and without her our planet cannot breathe. We are killing her by our indifference and lack of compassion to the destruction that is taking place. She needs our prayers, love and devotion, NOW. Each one of us must open our eyes and see what is going on, for we can no longer stay in denial and duality. We must move to ONENESS and NOW is the time.

Abeni's name means..."We asked for her, and look, we got her! She represents our willingness to call on spirit to help us wake up and start sending love and prayers to Africa.

Adesina's name means... "She opens the way". She represents spirit's help in showing us how to open the door to love, compassion, and unity. We can call forth spirit to help in our awakening process.

I have included the artistic process I went through to birth these two angels. I used paper collage to gift the canvas texture and for the first coat I used black acrylic paint. I made the frame on the canvas using tile grout with acrylic paint to give it a look of mud and I added pieces of bamboo to give it dimension. The painting consist of semi-hard pastels and acrylic paint.
When the energy came in it gave me a sense of joy and compassion. I danced, laughed and giggled while listening to African music. I felt my heart opening up wider and wider as I sent this love out. I hope Abeni and Adesina bring you joy as well.

Meet Athena, My Newest Earthangel from Greece.

Athena is standing above the Greek Islands sending feminine wisdom and protection into the world. I had so much fun playing with spirit as Athena came into form on my canvas.

This mixed media painting is filled with many treasures. The frame was constructed of tile grout, marble tile, and iron filigree corners. I added texture by applying newspaper collage to the heavy canvas. I am including my process for you to see her progression.

You can purchase this greeting card and others at our Etsy shop. www.artdelamour.etsy.com Please visit us today, we are celebrating our One Year Anniversary and we are offering a 20% discount this weekend.

Meet my newest Earthangel Amishi, Hindu for Pure

Meet my newest Earthangel, Amishi, from my series of Earthangels Around the World.
She is a Hindu bride and she represents the innocent pure love of the feminine power.
I tried to capture the precious moment of a sweet bride comtemplating her special wedding
day.
It is a mixed media painting. I used tile grout for the frame and Hindu symbols cut-out and glued to a 30 by 40 canvas.

Some New Art

Playing with paint and recycling old thrift store frames. This was an old beat up wooden frame that I brought back to life. My husband says this angel she looks more like Medusa but I was going for an angel that evokes the mystical energy of deep communion. I went an entirely different direction than I thought I was going. At first she was going to have straight black hair but for some reason I decided to paint her hair blue. Then when I put the first layer of her skin tone my daughter said she liked the white layer, so I decided to go for it and just add blue tones. It is fun to think outside the box. I think the blue color projects a mystical quality.

Meet My Newest Angel, Isabella

Meet My newest angel, Isabella, which is Spanish for "Devoted to God". She represents the Angel of passion and compassion (passion representing the energy of movement and compassion representing the energy of feeling.) In life we need to have something we want to share with the world or something we want to be apart. So we use passion to give us the movement we need to get going and we use compassion to give us the feeling we need to connect with others. The balance between these two energies create the right atmostphere to make things happen. The Spanish dancer's red dress is full of movement and passion yet her soft, sweet face gives you the feeling of compassion. I hope you enjoy her as much as I enjoyed painting her.
(Notice how she changed as I began painting her. She became much softer as I went along. Spirit is definitely in charge,)

Meet My Newest Angel, Tuyen

See the texture added to the canvas.
The tree trunk is made of grout.
There is a lot of texture to this piece.

After many more layers, (I don't want to bore you) she comes alive.
Here is Tuyen my newest angel. She is Asian and her name means Angel. She is here to teach humility and grace. The energy that surrounded me while I was creating Tuyen was humility and grace which is something I think each one of us needs to allow to flow from our spirits into the world now more than ever. Through grace we see and feel the divine connection which weaves all life together and through humility we allow the compassion to open us up to more possibilities. While painting her I meditated on allowing this energy to flow through me. I hope you enjoy her grace.

***My daughter just made a lot of corrections and updates on the ART website she lovingly
built for me, so check it out if you have time.
Hope your day is filled with grace and love.

Meet My Newest Angel, Kachina

This is my newest angel, Kachina, which is Hopi for spirit. She came to teach me to enjoy the spirit of nature and to remember to preserve our world so we can enjoy Mother Earth now and for future generations. Nature is our home and we must respect and take care of our home, our mother. I have learned so much from the Native Americans. I feel that we lost so much of the knowledge we could have learned from the people that lived in harmony with nature. We must return to this knowledge now more than ever. I am learning through the stillness to bring this knowledge into my spirit. I hope you enjoy her.
